I'm used to bears biting holes in my water line. It runs on top of the ground and especially in the spring, they like to bite it and punch holes in it. They don't chew it, they just puncture it. This year was the first time I had no new bear holes in my water line. Yesterday, went to get some gas from a plastic gas can I'd left in an open shed over the winter and found the gas can knocked over and empty with two neat matching bear tooth holes on the side of it. I wonder what he thought of the taste of gas. Hope he didn't like it, but you never know with bears. Funny thing is I've never had them try to get my food, but they sure seem to be curious about plastic stuff. Strange animals -- very smart and curious. Unfortunately their curiosity manifests through their teeth and claws. So far this year I've seen a big black one and cinnamon one that was so scrawny I thought it was an elk until it started moving.
