It has been my understanding that the "up-to-type" New Process transmission was used in military Dodges, but the "after-type" never was. Is this not true?

If the military manuals indicate that the two New Process transmissions actually had a New Process model number, I wonder why this information was not carried over to the civilian manuals? Maybe because the civilian manuals were MoPar gathered information with Chrysler part numbers and the military manuals were government gathered information with Chrysler part numbers AND vendor model numbers?

Would like to learn more on this subject.
