Back in the days when you could board an airplane without being felt up by a filipino rent-a-cop, I buiolt an Altair 8 bit computer.
I never got the hang of writing code (it was all hexi-decimal stuff) and have always been more hardware oriented.
A friend recently told me that there hasn't been an original program written in years. And that basically all they do now is add more code to existing programs to make them compatible with the newest O/S .
He went on to say that this is why we need such gigantic capacity hard drives and ram so as to accomodate the bloated programs.
I've heard this from a number of people.
If this is true then why doesn't MicroSoft spend the R&D money to address the issue.
I wonder how fast our computers would be if they didn't spend so much of their time referring to lines of code fromthe eighties.
I liked the old version of Firefox too. But I must admit that when someone mentions opera, I think of "The Mikado".
Since you guys are considerably more adroit with the programming side of thinky-boxes , perhaps you can speak to the validity of the foregoing.
Oh, And a happy fourth to you all.
