The saw tooth hand throttle adjustment was used after about mid 1946. I may be able to find out an exact serial number from my parts lists. It was used up until they came out with the second version of the locking cable and knob which would be found on trucks new enough that I am not familiar with them. Not sure if that information is in the parts lists or not.

2nd series beds can be determined if they are early or late from the rear valance. Early had the boards reaching clear back to the tailgate. Late had the boards stopping short of the tailgate at the valance that formed the last couple inches of the beds cargo surface. Early also had the same number of boards and layout as the first seires beds. Late added an additional board.
