we had an early 80s cushman, bought at auction from the nyc police department. dad painted to match our trucking company fleet colors! my brother and i learned to drive, drive stick (on the left side) and drive on 2 wheels in the turns! i learned how to repair it, maintain it and keep it in tip top shape. the later cushmans has skid bars on the front, on either side of the front wheel that prevented tipping. when you took a turn too sharp, you could run on the skid pad and make a stream of sparks!!!! we outgrew it and sold it to a local senior citizen who redid the cab to make it look like a mini chain drive mack. he used it to get around town and car shows.....
