Saw a nice un-restored '51 FFPW winch truck today. This is the one you hope to find. It spent its life in the Southern California desert. It had been sitting for the last 20 years, or so, in a backyard. Unmodified and complete. Absolutely no rust. No accident damage. Complete bed with the wood and tailgate in good condition. Nice looking interior, dash, floorboards and sheet metal.
The guy had pulled out the drive train including the axles. He plans on putting in a Dodge diesel.
I wish the guy good luck and hope he gets it done. But, boy, do I wish he had started with some other truck. This one deserved to have been saved. After all, it made it 60 years in beautiful condition.
You eastern guys that are working on rust buckets would have cried.
