Here is the short of it, I rebuild about ten to fifteen nv4500 granny's a year, most start with the fifth gear problem, don't be fooled the update is not a cure by anymeans. The updated mainshaft and 5th gear nut do not fix this problem. I only rebuild about five to seven six speeds a year. The parts are more beefy in it. The 4500 will hold as long as it isn't used on real heavy loads continuously. The big mistake here is the rock crawlers use much lowed gears so of course the 4500 will seem bullet proof. If you can afford it put in the six speed. If not use the new venture till you can afford one. I always say when people ask me what transmission is the best "its the one I see come through my door the least"
