I have 2.71 in a '63 with 10x15 BFG's. Slant 6 with headers, Weber 2 bbl. Tac's 2k at 55 mpg. A dog. Needs a 5 spd direct. This setup would be good with 3.91. As is 3rd gear is needed on any grade or pulling any load. The gearing was the way I got it and wasnt as bad with small tires.
