Manny,

The contacts don't care if they are breaking negative or positive polarity. Go ahead and hook up you negative battery cables to it.

The coil that activates it is all you need to worry about. find the two connections that activate the coil, and make sure the coil is isolated from the main (big) contacts. One side of the coil might be connected internally to the metal casing, thus grounding it when you bolt it into the boat. If you mount the switch on fiberglass, it won't work unless you run a separate ground wire to the case.
