someone was looking out for me today. I ran into town to get a new tire for my trailer this morning. On the way home my Check Gauges light came on. I look and my temp gauge is almost pegged, my voltmeter is dead and I say to my son something is WRONG. We stop and pop the hood on my '01 and yep the serpentine belt is shredded wrapped up on the pulleys. The bad part is the harmonic balancer is wobbling like it's going to fly off any second. A slow 3 mile drive home and let it cool off. I sprayed the front of the Cummins with the pressure washer and proceeded to remove the radiator and balancer. Got a new one coming in the morning from Napa. A whole lot better 3 miles from home than on the road to Iowa in the middle of BFE to have that happen. Also gave me a chance to steam off the radiator and intercooler. I really needed this to happen on top of getting Dave Butler's 57 PG ready and my own Stubby for the trip. I'll still try to hit the road Wed at 6 am.
