Your rust looks like the usual for an old truck that has not run in decades. Flush out the loose stuff and get 'er going.

Flush the radiator from the bottom, you might get more crap out that way.

Those 'aluminum; out lets on newer cars aren't. They are zinc, and are sacrificial. Electrolysys eats them, sparing the rest of the cooling system. Yup, just like in boat motors.


Boat stores sell zincs that screw into heater hose fittings. Maybe we can solder half-couplings to our radiators?
