Options:
1. if possible, install the new seal so that its seal surface rides outside of the wear groove.
2. get a redi-sleeve for the pulley (NAPA/CARQUEST) - looks like a thin bushing that slips over the seal surface to be the new wearing surface against the seal. The sleeve gets a little loctite to hold it in place - they work great.
3. new pulley.
