Even if there was not a seal in place(and many of the old seals are about as good as not there) The lube would have to get through the clearance between the axel shaft and the bronze bushing. Unless you parked or drove on a sidehill for a long, long time, the volume of SAE 90 that could get through would be very, very small, assuming you are installing new bronze bushings. A quick polish and a leather seal is all I'd do. Just my .02. Rob
