You were supposed to lock the driver's side door from inside and exit on the passenger side so you didn't have to step out onto the street and risk your life.
Imagine. That was before cute girls sped by in their SUV's while talking on a cell phone, doing their nails, looking in the rear view mirror to check their hair while tailgating at 65 mph.
