Well, as some of you may know, my tranny is shot. I lost 3rd and reverse due to my lack of a kick down cable. Well, right now I don;t have time to fix it, but I amm going to collect the parts, and get it back on the road. here are my questions.
What would it take to put a 518 tranny in my dodge. How much weaker is it than a 727?? I was thinking this for better highway milage, as I am on the highway (or going those speeds) about 90% of the time. ALso, what would it take to put in a tilt steering collumn out of a newer ram? Like the 81-93 models. I just don;t feel safe with a 1 piece steering shaft, and I might as well get tilt too when I replace it. How much can I tow with this truck? What will I need to to to make it be able to tow my 77 4x4, all ready for a trail, with one ton axles, and 38.5" swampers. a friends of mine had a ramcharger that weighed in a 7580 ready for a trail. Can i get away with it? And my final question for right now, can I use my truck as is to tow my dodge to the welding shop? My spring mount broke, and the body mount cracked when it was being bolted back together, now that I replaced, it needs to be welded up, and I can't drive it that way. Oh, and BTW, those are 275/60/15" BFG radial ta's, and right now I have bent leaf springs Thanks. Garrett
