Like Bruce posted it should be safe if they are selling it for brake use. It's stronger than copper, as corrosion resistant as stainless but softer so it can be flared without special tools.

The tradeoff is it's not as readily available (you can get stainless from about any place that sells brake lines), and it's expensive.

As for the fluid, either dot 3 or 4 would be fine. DOT 4 has a higher boiling point IIRC, but most modern vehicles still spec DOT 3 and the difference as far as I could tell is minimal.
