I've heard the same thing about them doing 100 mph in 2nd. As I recall it had a strange gear shift lever that I couldn't quite figure out. Maybe some sort of "pre-selector"? He told me it was worth $350K back then. I supposed you'd add at least one more zero to the value today.
What I would have given to take that car out on the highway! Gangster whitewalls, white leather seats, white satin lining on the doors and roof. Funny thing, I can't remember if the body was blue or green. Maybe it was greenish-blue. Chrome pipes sticking out through the side of the hood, and they were real. All I'd need is a top hat, a tux, a cigar. Imagine cruising Golden Gardens or the Renton Loop in a Deusenberg! I might have even gotten laid. Could have changed my whole life.
