There was a siren on my old 48 1.5 ton chevy. Ex-firetruck turned flatbed. It was a nice copper one, and would scream pretty loudly after it spun up. It ran off the switch the department installed even after I went through it, with no problems. Of course Mr. Sherman is right, we didn't run it long enough to determine if the switch would get hot.
