Hi Chris,

It's easy to trim our lab's nails, but our West Highland Terrier is another story. She is 15 lbs and jerks, screams, and bites at me when I get out the clippers. For her size, I sit her in my lap on the couch, sometimes wedged between me and arm rest, get my left arm around her neck with my elbow toward her back legs and the hand by her head to keep it out of the way and sometimes to hold a paw. My wife sometimes has to help hold the paw in a position that I can cut it with my right hand.

25 lbs might be a little big to do it this way, but you could try. Use the clippers that are like a small pair of pliers and not the kind with the hole and the blade that slides forward. Like D Sherman said, be careful not to cut the quick, but if you do keep the dog off the furniture and carpet until it stops bleeding for a while (it can bleed a lot)!
