My son and his wife announced last night that they will be having a boy in early Oct. Now here's something you may have never heard of how they announced it.
Have you ever heard of a "gender party?" I know I haven't. So, two weeks ago my daughter-in-law had an ultrasound while my son and I went halibut fishing. Yes, the fishing was excellent especially for April as I was just expecting a boat ride in 3-4' seas with a 10-15 knot wind with temps around 42. And we had a rookie onboard who had never fished or been on the ocean. We got eight halibut weighing 15-40 lbs, which anymore is a good trip, an outstanding trip for April and the rookie didn't get seasick.
Back to the party. The daughter-in-law told the technician to write down the sex of the baby and put it in a sealed envelope. She and a friend then planned this party where they opened the envelope. In my opinion, dumb as dirt, but the women sure liked it.
So, after the announcement my wife and I hugged the kids and went home. The daughter-in-law said, "Now, you have another excuse to buy another Power Wagon!" I like that girl more and more. Last year, I bought my then 1-year old grandson a restorable 1950 B-2-PW for his birthday. Maybe we'll become a 4 Power Wagon family. My son has a 2010. The wife is not real keen on the idea, but maybe the daughter-in-law will work on her. There's a 1947 that was for sale in Jan, but the guy changed his mind about selling it, maybe he'll change his mind again...
