Will...As I was following your flatbed construction I was looking forward as to how you were going to address the stake pocket issue. In my opinion, attaching the stake pockets to the outside of the frame is more something one would do on a trailer, and agree that it would detract from the appearance of the bed. I would consider slightly reducing the size of the stakes, if only at the ends, so they would fit into an internally installed pocket, or use 2"x4"x 3/16" tube, as you showed, but instead, making the cut-out on the inside of the rail so the outside remains smooth. Fitting your floor around the 1/4" protrusion would pose little problem. Did you consider cutting out the top and bottom of the rail to size and welding pieces in place front and rear only?

Again...only some thoughts.
