Why OT? It's my cast iron frying pans that leak, both of them. Pits I assume. They are seasoned well, and don't stick any more than teflon pans. Cool with grease still in, then drain. The hot water and a course stainless scratchy pad, the one that looks like lathe chips in a bunch.
Probably leak because I do not use regular vegetable oil, I leave that poison for use making varnishes and epoxies. I use coconut oil. It doesn't harden up, and probably dissolved the old varnish. Now they leak though pits when hot. The stove gets puddles if I don't pour the grease out. And coconut oil cost $20/gallon.
Do you think Japan drier applied to the outside would soak in and kick off the grease? Or do I need to do the taper pin fix?
