Regarding towing on a regular highway, are you talking the stock 230 or 251 engine?
The 230 is rather anemic even when the truck is unloaded, much less towing anything of substance.
The brakes have been mentioned by others.
Several years ago I towed a loaded 2 horse trailer once with a Ford PU with a 351 engine and it caused me to feel a little underpowered going up hills.
Also the truck was a bit light compared to the load, causing some handling effects.
Once I got the 6BT diesel Dodge then I felt a lot more confident.
Just moving your trailer around over the farm or ranch and/or short distances would be o.k with a stock power wagon. But for highway travel, an engine and brake upgrade would be really needed in my opinion
