Adjust the system to zero lash, then crank the nut on the pinion side inwards until the proper lash is attained.
The guy I lernt it from would light up a bowl of Brokyum Riff at this point of fiddling. Setting up a diff is not the time to be n a hurry.
At least with a Dodge, you can do it on the bench instead of on a creeper, twisting sideways. I'm getting a cramp in my neck just thinking about it.
