It is or it isn't. Old castings can crack. JB Weld can be dug out or shaved with your knife. Obviously the guy owes you your money back if he sold you a pump with a stripped hole and JB weld on it. Personally I've never seen the point of buying a "rebuilt" pump or paying someone to rebuild one. Yes a rebuild kit can cost $25-$50 these days, but with a simple screw-together pump, it's an easy job to do with basic tools and you know you have fresh alcohol-resistant rubber and you can look over all the parts you're not replacing and make sure they're right. Everybody's got their own threshold of what work they'll do themselves and what they'll farm out, but restoring old trucks would be a pretty expensive and frustrating hobby if we didn't at least do the easy stuff ourselves.
