Try to find something that is flexable that will run different size wire easily .023-.045 would be able to cover most. If you are welding steel set up for short arc using S-6 wire and co2 gas much cheaper and less spatter.
The salesmen will want you to use a mixture of gas that costs more. and S-3 wire that is prone to spatter. Called long arc or plasma. not as controllable out of position.
Wear leathers and you will smell the burning flesh shortly before feeling it if you are consintrating on your bead.
