Liquid stainless steel flux.... The brand name that comes to mind is 'Stay Clean' by Harris, but there a number of others. Though labeled 'stainless steel', it's acually excellent for most all metals, ferrous and non-ferrous. In addition to acting as a flux in the conventional sense, to prevent oxidation, it also has great metal cleaning qualities. Having spent forty-two years (ret.) in the commercial/industrial HVAC and Refrigeration industry, I can attest to it's effectivness. Of course, as you know, standard procedures and practices should be adhered to: the cleaner and brighter you can get the metal initially the better and the temperature of the metal, not the torch flame directly, is to melt the solder.

I'm sure once you try it, it will have a permanent spot on the shelf in your shop....Randy.
