I got a summer job at a welding shop right after I graduated high school. I got hired because I knew what all the lines meant on a tape measure. Most of the people wanting to work including some engineers he tried to hire couldn't even do that. I agree that engineers should have to work in the field for a few years before they start dawning stuff up on the computer. Some of them do not understand that when you design something and put it together, that maybe someday you might have to take it apart. Some of the new tractors I work on, you have to disassemble half the loader to get to a ten dollar part. We need more engineers who designed the power wagon. Just simple and durable.
