Given the number of extra threads to lodge rust, paint, and debris in, and the higher number of turns required to remove, I believe the fine thread bolts were used primarily to remove excess skin from the top of my knuckles......especially whilst removing any bolt under the front sheetmetal of my '41......but I am sure there was a more practical reason.
