Matt,

You are so correct about the differences in what is driving businesses today.

We have invented a lot of great and life extending materials and technologies, but that is different that the engineering that goes into them. As an Aerospace Engineer you are driven to a fine line between weight and strength that with out today's tools and materials would not be possible.

My concern is in most products we are driven to engineer the product/service that just lives long enough to get by, with little regard to doing what's right for the customer. We seem to be a build to be disposable society, and yes cost/price does drive a lot of that.

Just think of how long our wonderful Power Wagons, our vehicles of choice would last with the current technologies/materials, that is as long as they didn't add all the modern "stuff" to them.
