I can't help but adding my $.02. I am an engineer and in my field (fire protection) computers and modern technology help, but they are tools and many people operating them don't understand the fundamentals behind the programs . I don't work in automotive industry but I imagine it is the same way. I see computer programmers designing sprinkler systems all the time. Once had to explain the problem with operating a section of water pipe at -20 psig.
