From "About Us" on Ray Suiter's UglyTrucking.com web site... "Helitool, LLC was established in 1989 to manufacture overhaul tooling for Sikorsky S64 and S61 helicopters. In 1994 I bought a 1952 flat fender Power Wagon. The brakes were the worst I have ever used, so I made a set of disc brakes for it using Tim Peterson's design. Dave Cirillo suggested that I should make a few extra "You might be able to sell 20 sets." We ended up making 1500 sets over the last fifteen years."

Tim Peterson engineered the disc brake conversion. He sent out the kits including the modified hubs with the understanding that the kit buyer would send him the serviceable hub core. He did this as a favor to minimize the conversion time. When too many of the kit buyers didn't return the core hubs, he ran out of modified hubs to supply with the conversion kits. If you order a kit from Ray, he says on the How to contact us, "If you are ordering a disc brake conversion, you need to email me for the address of the machinist nearest to you who can modify your hubs for rotors.” I’m guessing having the buyer get the hub modification done serves two purposes: (1) saving on shipping costs; and (2) eliminating hub shortages on Ray’s end.

I bought my WC52 with the Tim Peterson brake conversion from Tim Peterson.
