Just take the stick out and leave the top on the trans. I bolted a short chain to the top of mine (w/out stick) and stood in the truck, with my feet on the floor and lifed it out and set it on the floor, I had both floor boards and the trans hump out. the stick comes out by pushing down on the little metal ring(spring loaded) and turning clockwise, I welded a washer to mine to make it easy.
