Vaughn came over and we buttoned up a few little details I was tinkering with: bled the brakes one more time after replacing a block and washers that leaked; adjusted carb screw; adjusted steering box, and finally got around to startin er up. Vaughn did some revs, and SQUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEELLLLLL, PING PING PING. I couldn't shut it off quick enough.

Pulled the clutch cover and inside it are two pieces of SOMETHING!! Looked at em, couldn't figure it out. Two tiny pieces of plastic, like the size of,,, i dunno, thumbnail square. Roll under it, look all thru the clutch area, up by the starter, clutch fork, nothin looks broke or missing. Plus its plastic sooooo....... Anyway, back to try to start it. Starts up, no bad sounds. Good, it spit out what it didn't like.

A hearty thanks to Vaughn, and he heads for home. I put the fender back on, get the front end sheet metal all buttoned up, and my cell phone rings. The machine shop that had my front full bumper since yesterday says its done!! He straightened it and welded all the holes in the front of it. PERFECT, Im driving this thing to get its bumper!! Start er up, Pull outta the drive way, I MOVIN!! For the first time since I bought this truck May of 2006!!

Shiftin, No problem, Steering, thanks another issue. Kinda tight, kinda WAY tight. So Ill take Vaughns advice and back the adjustment out just a bit. Brakes work nice. But HOLY #@%& is it LOUD!! I need to move the muffler out from under the passenger floorboard and back under the bed somewhere.

So, four miles one way to the machine shop. No license plates, no brake lights no rear turn signals. Almost caused six accidents on the way, people slowing down to look, wave, give thumbs up. then I realize, crap, no mirrors!! Cant change lanes! its ok, everyone is too busy looking and smiling or waving or thumbs up! lol So I get to the machine shop, guy wants to see it, says his grandpa used to have one. Cool talk a bit and head for home. As I get in, I give the whole thing a once over. Small fuel leak from the coupling in the frame, and a bigger leak from the rear third member. Fluid all over the axle and up on the cross members.

Oh well, gotta get home now. On the drive back, my worst fear, I see two cops! No lights or plate remember. Both stare and smile and give me thumbs up. Then a few blocks from home, another cop writing a ticket. He pauses writhing the ticket to watch me drive by and i see thumbs up from him as I pass! ha, cool.

So I make it home, 8 miles round trip, odometer now says 8.1 miles. I reset it to 0 when I refurbed it. So I get home and I shut it off to move my Dakota to put er back in her spot in the driveway. Get back in and gonna make a wide turn to line er up to back right in. As I get to the neighbors driveway, putter putter putter STALL. #&^@ RAN OUTTA GAS!! Well at least it was here instead of on the main roads.

So I go buy a 5 gallon gas can, and get it filled along with my 1 gallon can, come home dup gas in er, vroom, starts right back up.

Back er into her spot, and let her rest. Put the front grill extension on, both outside rear view mirrors, fixed one gas leak, noticed another comin from the pump. Ill look at that and the third member tomorrow. IM beat!!

Ill sleep good tonite!!

Thanks
Nick

PS. Thanks a lot Vaughn!!!!!
