Was searching Phil's archives for info on Allstate locking hubs and came across this early post in response to a guy expressing concern about the "noisy" Power Wagon. Gave me a chuckle.

"Ah... Young Mobysan. You have reached the first level of enlightenment. You will now be given your secret mantra - “slow, noisy, bad brakes” . In your journey you will often chant these words as you meditate on the great truths of Power Wagon ownership. Sometimes you will speak the mantra clearly, other times you will mutter it under your breath and often you will combine the mantra with other colorful words and phrases of a more explicit nature.
To achieve higher levels of enlightenment you must first solve the illusive riddle of the mantra. You must answer such enigmas as “Which should come first the engine or the brakes? Does not one need to go before they need to stop?, or conversely, Should one not be prepared to stop before they attempt to go? “ These age old questions shall haunt you as you continue on you quest but fortunately, you will will have the assistance of others who have gone before. Heed them for they are truly your brothers.
To achieve a oneness with your truck you must learn its inner harmony. Remember Mobysan someday soon you will be able to turn a (literally) deaf ear to what you now think is a terrible cacophony.
In your future travels you may often believe that the rest of the world is passing you by but do not despair. Look forward, one day you too may achieve the true Nirvana. This has often been described as driving past a hopelessly mired Toyota and you shall know it. if and when you achieve it.
Drive forth Mobysan and do not look back...Those little vibrating mirrors will give you a headache."
