All good stuff Paul, I found if you can rotate it as you pull you will eventually get there. I have some small steel wedges I got somewhere and tapped them in between the spring eye and the bracket until I got the spring lined up as good as I could get it, then rotated the pin a little and tap-tap, rotate, tap-tap, then saw it start to move. Took a while but I got there. Good luck with it.
