All of us newbies apoligize for asking what has already been asked, but sometimes tracking down what has already been answered is not that easy...

I've spent the last months fixing engine cooling problems, transfer case problems, PTO problems and I think I spend more time reading the books and forums than working on my wagon...

And you know what, I still have not seen it written anywhere that you need thread sealant on the PTO mounting bolts, but as far as I can tell, oil weeps out of the bolts if you fail to put some kind of sealant on those threads!!!

I've done some restoration of old iron before, but these trucks were sophisticated for the day. My 48 John deere B has no water pump, no thermostat and has a magneto... and no fan belt. ( it runs off a driveshaft from the cam...) But these things are a very different level of technology.
