I have spoken to folks who have done a lot of differential rebuilds on these units, and they have told me that it is not usually possible to interchange the caps amongst different cases, as the runout will be well out of tolerance. The caps and cases are apparently machined together, so the mating cap and case need to be kept together from then on.
