the 230 is supposed to be from a low mile truck. Many M37s are low mile rigs. the bore is still standard and has now ridge. I think that is the way they must have come as the measurements of multple heads being service to exactly that thickness are slim. Machinists usually only take off what is needed at the time. And these heads in my exerience are not prone to warping.
