There are a lot of nice, high end vehicles on the road with electric fuel pumps. Original is always nice, but running usually is better.
If the truck was running with an electric pump, then, obviously there is either something wrong with the mech. pump, or there is something the electric pump happens to do that the truck needs that the mechanical pump can't do (internal carb. problem?)
