I think sagged body mounts make the most noise.

I've got headers and and a 2bbl intake, custom make, on my PW. With the 11.00 x 16 Michelins, it will cruise the freeway and keep up with loaded semis on the flat. Empty ones can pull away from me on the hills.

I'm sure the biggest thing that makes you guys slow down is the noise. Making sure the body is not rubbing on the frame or tranny goes a long way towards quieting them down. Well. at least the noises don't come through to the cabin. I used oversized washesr hole sawed from aluminum plate. plus some 1/2" fender washers for the final shimming. All with 50 y.o rubber parts. Farthest I've driven it is 30 miles up Highway 5, crusng along with friday afternoon traffic. My brother and I reminisced the whole way about PW journeys we had taken when younger- 30+ years ago. We did strain our voices a bit, but at least we did carry on the conversation.
