Treat it like it is a M1911 45 ACP and parkerize it.
I use an electric hot plate to keep the solution at 200f and use an old stainless cooking pan that will hold your stuff. Glass is better but after breaking one that is out for me. Hang the parts from some stainless safety wire you can get from your local airplane mechanic or rotate several times. 15 minutes is usually enough time ounce the parts are up to temperature. Parts will get coarse and pitted if they are in too long.
Don't use your wife's candy thermometer, go get your own. If you do a search there are several distributors and they will send instructions.
