Sealed system, no flow. The oxygen gets used up in a slight amount of corrosion, turning the stagnant water black. Thereafter, no rust.
They test teh pressure/alarm switches by letting soem off at teh inlet, but the water in the pipe sits there for years, unless there is a fire or the system is opened for modification.
