the frost plugs in my ford lehman diesel are either stainless or chrome plate steel. many years of marine service with coolant inside the engine and the caps seem fine. i would have no problem with either a galvy stock or brass water tube as i believe the parts only rust when the coolant is replaced with water. if you run coolant and maintain your system, your kids will still be running the same water tube many moons from now. the trick is keeping the system maintained. in the same way that a constantly used and maintained truck can run the same brake lines for 50 years if the fluid is changed. water and neglect are the enemy!
