Hello there...I know this may sound odd but I am a woman that has removed the steering box, column, pitman arm and drag link off of our 57 power wagon. I am not sure what a WDX is but you do have to remove the steering wheel(easiest way is with a steering wheel puller) Next remove the pitman arm and drag link so that you can lower your steering box, then loosed the collar. Next you will need to lower the shaft(which will come down with the box) that is in the column so that you can take the housing out...if you don't lower the shaft the housing will hit your back window and not allow it to come all the way off. This may not be the same in your case as I am not sure what year and model you have. Good Luck!!!
