Most race cars and I think all airline connectors are solderless terminals. The reason for this is that a soldered joint leaves a weakness in the wire where the solder ends and this is more likely to stress fracture than a crimped connector. Use GOOD (seamless or soldered joint) uninsulated connectors and protect joint with shrink wrap. This supports the wire best.
For wrapping, any method that protects the wire from getting damaged is good. My preference for looks is cloth tape without adhesive, with shrink wrap holding the ends from unraveling. Another option is plastic cable ties. The advantage of these is you can also use them for tying the wire bundle to a support more often than with other methods.
As for additions, I would add wiring for auxillary driving lights and CB radio.
