Bill, I dont off hand know the cereckt name for this part, allus called it a "step-down" used em on bout everthang, diodey, rectifer, sumthin usually white and conneckts on each end, 9volts in 6volts out, jest a heat sink thet takes sumatha far outcher lecticity. Thet mite work fer yer the gas gage, I never had a gas gage thet worked til we bot a 85 Jeep Cheraky.
