9 volt generator

I have a 9 volt generator in my parts pile that I think came from a WC-9 1/2 ton ambulance. Is this standard for anything used during WWII? I thought it was either 6 volts or 12 volts for all WWII equipment. Any ideas on the 9 volt unit?
