My lil 93 Gran Cherakee uses ATF in its transfer case, gets used hard towin, skiddin, etc. I change it ever other year or so as with all them fluids, never had a problum. Ifn a feller used it in a ole truck it would probly come a pourin outa them leather seals like water outa spout, if it didnt ackshully seep right thru the case its own self. A feller I know in heavy equip says they use 40wt motor oil in ther gearboxes an such, 50wt in summer, he says the newer gear boxes dont rely on the need for acid etchin to keep the oil on the bearins, cuz the sulfur thet smell we all love in the 90wt gear lube mixes with the water thets everwhere an turns inta sufuric acid an etches the bearins ever so slitely makin it so the bearins had someplace to hold onta thet oil, hes a smart feller, kin fix anythang, says it wuz made thet way a purpus. At Burlington Northern they change thet lite wt oil lots more offen then afore an thangs run much smoother...slicker. Jes don smell as good.
