I really don't think it would have any effect on mileage as the viscosity is the least of concerns regarding rolling resistance. The exception to this of course is a locat1on like mine in the winter. The solution to that however, is leave it parked until spring. What would "improve" (read increase) dramatically though would be the drip rate from all those seals. These trucks are as bad as the old Harley's. If they didn't drip then there something wrong with them, like out of oil! Better stick with what they called for as the machined tolerances weren't near as close as todays machines. BTW no question for information on these old rigs is potentially dumb, most of us are here to help and collectively we seem to solve the problems presented. Best of luck.
